FANPARK Guidelines

To ensure a safe, professional, and enjoyable market experience for everyone, all traders are expected to follow these guidelines:

  • Pitch Boundaries: Trade only within the designated location and pitch size assigned to you. Do not extend beyond your allocated space.
  • Access & Safety: Gangways, pavements, and public walkways must remain clear and unobstructed at all times.
  • Professional Conduct: Traders must be courteous and respectful to members of the public, fellow traders, local residents, nearby businesses, and event officials.
  • Product Safety: All items sold must be safe, compliant with relevant regulations, and fit for purpose.
  • Insurance: Traders must hold valid public liability insurance with a minimum cover of £5 million for the full duration of their licence.
  • Waste & Cleanliness: Traders are responsible for disposing of waste properly and must help maintain the condition of the public highway—clean, undamaged, and well-kept.
  • Vehicle Access: All vehicles must be removed from the FanPark before market operating hours begin.
  • Payments: All fees must be paid within one day of receiving your invoice.

What licences do I need?

If you’re planning to serve food and/or drink at the market, you’ll need to provide a copy of your Food Hygiene Certificate. This should be Level 2 or above.

Training courses are widely available and start from around £10. We recommend www.ncass.org.uk/training/food-hygiene/level-2, as they are one of the most highly accredited providers offering Level 2 Food Hygiene training.

Please ensure your certification is valid and up to date before the event.

Public Liability Insurance

All traders, not just those selling food and drink are required to have public liability insurance with a minimum cover of £5 million.

This type of insurance is widely available and straightforward to obtain. For convenience, we often recommend www.marketline.co.uk, as they specialise in market stall insurance and offer competitive rates.

What else do i need to do?

If you plan to sell pre-packaged food or drink, you must follow Natasha’s Law, which requires a full ingredients label on the packaging, just like in a supermarket. You can find more information at natashas-law.com.

For food prepared or packaged on-site, formal labelling isn’t required.

However, you must either:

  • Clearly display all ingredients at your stall, or
  • Have a visible sign inviting customers to ask about ingredients (e.g. “Please ask about allergens or ingredients”)

It’s also essential that you are fully aware of what goes into your products, especially when it comes to allergens.

Food Hygiene & Hand Washing Requirements

If you are preparing food on-site, your stall must be equipped with appropriate hand-washing facilities. This should include:

A supply of hot water (an insulated flask is acceptable)

  • A bowl
  • Liquid soap
  • Paper towels or clean cloth towels
  • Ideally, a nailbrush

Please note: there is no running water available within the Street Court at FanPark, although it is accessible inside the venue. If you are using knives or other serving implements, you must provide a separate washing station for utensils, these cannot be cleaned in the same area used for hand washing.

Glove Use & Food Safety

We also recommend using hygienic kitchen gloves when handling food. Gloves help reduce the risk of transferring harmful bacteria or contaminants from your hands to the food.

If a worker is performing the same task continuously, gloves must be changed at least every four hours, as this is long enough for bacteria to reach dangerous levels. Gloves must also be replaced immediately if they become contaminated, torn, or after handling non-food items.

Contactless Payments

While not essential, we strongly recommend that all traders are able to take contactless card payments. Cash is absolutely fine, but most visitors to the market expect to pay by card, and stalls that accept contactless often see higher sales.

We recommend the iZettle contactless payment reader, it’s affordable (just £19 for new customers), has a reliable battery life, connects to your phone, and integrates directly with PayPal if you have an account.

Making it easy for customers to pay helps everyone, so it’s well worth considering!

Cooking Equipment

You are responsible for ensuring that any electrical equipment including your power generators that you use on your stall is pat tested, safe to use and doesn’t exceed your electricity limit. gas cooking equipment is permitted but make sure it’s compliant with with gas safe register/corgi standards.

We have one power supply, with one 32amp power, priced at £20+vat. you would need to bring your own power leads and at least a 15m extension cable. this would have to be arranged prior to the event as we only have limited power on site.

Conditions specific to food traders

  • All licensed food traders shall achieve and maintain for the duration of their licence a food hygiene rating standard of 3 or higher
  • To avoid possible contamination, food must not be placed directly onto the floor
  • Food handlers are required to wear clean gloves that are changed regularly when handling food
  • Food handlers are required to change gloves that are changed regularly when handling food
  • Where high-risk food is handled, there must be good hand-washing facilities. These must include a basin or sink with a supply of hot and cold water
  • The food business operator must carry out a fire risk assessment
  • Appropriate fire extinguishers must be provided and checked every 12 months and signed off within this self-declaration form : www.fanpark.co.uk/trader-info

Generator

The mobile generator must be positioned so that:

  • It is not a danger to the passing public
  • It is not a fire hazard to the stall or goods
  • It does not create a noise or fume nuisance
  • Inflammable fuel is stored away from the stall in London Fire Brigade-approved containers

Gazebo / Trailer

To maximise your visibility, enhance your brand presence, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety, we encourage all stallholders to bring their own gazebo, food truck, or trailer to the event.

If needed, a limited number of 3x3m gazebos are available to hire on a first-come, first-served basis for £25 + VAT. Please note that stallholders are responsible for supplying their own tables and equipment.
