Capacity: 53,400
Opened: 2003
Location: Etihad Campus, Manchester
The Etihad Stadium, opened in 2003, has been the home of Manchester City since the club’s move from Maine Road. With a capacity of 53,400, it is one of the most modern football venues in the country, designed with both comfort and atmosphere in mind. Its sweeping bowl structure provides excellent sightlines throughout, while the South Stand, home to the club’s most vocal supporters, drives the noise that carries across the ground on matchdays.
Although younger than many of England’s traditional football cathedrals, the Etihad has already witnessed a wealth of iconic moments in City’s modern history, from dramatic title-clinching victories to Champions League glory. Continuous development, including the expansion of the South Stand and plans for further growth, has ensured that the stadium matches the club’s ambitious trajectory on and off the pitch.
Manchester City, founded in 1880 as St. Mark’s (before becoming Manchester City in 1894), has grown from local roots into a global powerhouse. Known for their sky-blue kit, City has been defined by flair and attacking football, a tradition elevated in the modern era under Pep Guardiola, whose teams have set new standards for dominance in English football. Legends past and present, from Colin Bell and Sergio Agüero to Kevin De Bruyne, embody the club’s evolution from local challengers to one of Europe’s elite. Today, the Etihad stands not only as the heart of Manchester City but as a symbol of their rise onto the world stage
